Edythe C. Ferencz – Belle Vernon

Edythe C. Ferencz, age 99 (16 days short of 100 years old), of Belle Vernon passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, in Hallsworth House. A daughter of the late William and Alice Haught Hoyes, she was born on Nov. 27, 1923, in Belle Vernon. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Edythe was a member of First United Methodist Church in Belle Vernon and the Golden Agers of Belle Vernon/Fayette City. Edythe was a shopper for the former Gimbels and the former G.C. Murphy Co. in Tri-County Plaza, retiring in 1968. She was an avid card player, loved reading books and enjoyed walking. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Janet Ferencz of Naomi, Pa., William Ferencz (Connie) of Austin, Pa., and Karen Ferencz of Beaufort, N.C.; five grandchildren, Susan (Pat) Hill of Charleston, S.C., Michael (Valerie) Ferencz of Sumter, S.C., Alice (Ron) Derian of Sneads Ferry, N.C., Adam (Raenell) Ferencz of Naomi, Pa., and Marla (Jon) Bach of Centreville, Va.; eight great-grandchildren, Garrett and Anna Hill, Adam Phillips and Laylah Ferencz, Scarlett Druciak and Evan, Grant and Cameron Bach; and her nieces, Nona, Liz and Jennifer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Ferencz, on Feb. 7, 2004; a son, Rodney Ferencz; a brother, William Hoyes; and a sister, Anna Morris. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, with Pastor Chuck Jack officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the Hallsworth House and Hospice ViaQuest providers, especially Joan and Kendall, for providing exceptional care.
