Donna J. Bitonti, 81, of Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, at Select Specialty McKeesport after recovering from a heart operation. A daughter of the late John and Dolores Stech Umbel, she was born on May 2, 1942. Formerly of Bentleyville, Donna has been a resident of Belle Vernon since 1964. In her younger years, she worked for West Penn Power for several years and was the former Belle Vernon borough tax collector for over 20 years, retiring in 2021. Donna was a member of Saint Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, the American Legion bocce league, several card clubs and the Red Hat Society. She attended all her children’s and grandchildren’s youth sports games and school functions. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Toni Lynn and Matthew Breakwell of Belle Vernon; a son and daughter-in-law, James A. and Tanya Bitonti of Belle Vernon; six grandchildren, Riley Bitonti of Belle Vernon, Madison Bitonti of Belle Vernon, Makenzie (Eric) Harkins of Columbia, Md., Kaci Bitonti of Belle Vernon and Luke Breakwell and Gabriella Breakwell, both of Belle Vernon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James V. Bitonti, on Jan. 30, 2009; a brother, Ronald Umbel; and a sister, Joann Rusnak. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300. www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. A blessing will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at Saint Sebastian Roman Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with Father Michael Crookston as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
