More winter shelter space will be available in Allegheny County

Allegheny County has worked to increase how many people can be sheltered this winter by 65% compared to the number of available beds just two years ago. The Department of Human Services said its work with providers to increase shelter capacity has resulted in the county-wide system now having more than 370 year-long beds. There is also temporary overflow space of another 80 beds.
