William George Kunca, 81, of Belle Vernon, passed away Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, at Jefferson Hospital. A son of the late Michael and Kathryn Hanas Kunca, he was born April 14, 1942, in California, Pa. Formerly of Monessen, William has resided for the past 55 years in Belle Vernon, where he was a member and an elder of First Presbyterian Church in Belle Vernon. He was also a member of the Washington Township Lions Club and F.& A.M. Tri County Lodge 252. William was a sales engineer for Sil-Base Company in McKeesport, retiring in 2021, and has been involved and loved the steel industry since he was a superintendent for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel’s Monessen plant. He was a United States Army veteran who loved his grandkids and his pets, golfing every Friday and has collected Lionel trains since he was 10 years old. He is survived by his wife of 55 years and the love of his life, Eileen Benny Kunca; a son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Angela Kunca of Venetia; a daughter, Dawn Kunca-Kapolka; and five grandchildren, Ryan, Derek and Olivia Kunca and Kate and Luke Kapolka. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Friday with Pastor Don Glunt officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Officers and members of the First Presbyterian Church will meet in the funeral home at 7 p.m. Thursday.
