Shirley I. Gill McKnight, 89, of Rostraver Township, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023, at Country Care Manor in Fayette City. She retired as a cook for K-Mart in Belle Vernon. She was a former member of Elizabeth Wesleyan Church and attended West Newton Wesleyan Nazarene Church. She enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Born Dec. 26, 1933, in Chester, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Mildred Sayre Gill. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, William Dennis McKnight; sons, Dennis (Trenace) McKnight of Grindstone and the Rev. David (Beatrice) McKnight of Hartfield, Va.; daughters, Debbie (Chuck) Lint of Owosso, Mich., Diane McKnight of Ebensburg, Donna (Howard) Dunlop of Fayette City and Darlene (Mike) Mutich of Fayette City; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Lilly Bennet of Elizabeth, Mary Lou Allen of Port Vue, Russell Gill of West Mifflin and Sue Fortney of Georgia; along with nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Charlotte Jeffers, Lela Cindric, Lyda Michels, Rodney Gill, Jeannie Kirkman and Joseph Gill. Friends will be received at PAUL E. BEKAVAC FUNERAL HOME, 221 N. Second Ave., Elizabeth, from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023. A funeral service will take place at noon Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain Larry T. Coltura officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to West Newton Wesleyan Nazarene Church, 310 Pittsburgh St., West Newton, PA 15089. Offer condolences at www.bekavacfuneralhome.com.
