Benjamin O. Gibson Jr., 75, of New Eagle, and more recently of Schellsburg, died peacefully on Nov. 4, 2023, with family by his side. He was born in New Eagle in 1948 to Benjamin and Eleanor Rollison Gibson Sr. He was a 1966 graduate of Monongahela High School and a proud member of Local 354 Plumbers & Pipefitters Union, where he worked for 35 years. He was involved in various volunteer activities, including being an original founding member of the New Eagle Community Action Group and was the chairman of New Eagle’s 75th Diamond Jubilee celebration. Ben served several terms as a New Eagle Borough councilman before retiring to Bedford County. He was an avid fisherman and loved drawing and painting. Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Eleanor Rollison Gibson of New Eagle. He is survived by his children, David (Tricia) Gibson and grandchildren Mallory, Nina and Benjamin of South Fayette Township; Benae (Devron) Eakins of Clarksburg, Md.; and Melissa (Josh) Mulhollen and grandchildren Henry and Nora of Arlington, Va. The family will honor Ben in a private service. Memorial contributions to the New Eagle Community Action Group, 31 Crestview Estates, New Eagle, PA 15067, would be greatly appreciated.
