He and Becky then married on July 20, 1968, and began their teaching careers in Marshall County, W.Va. By the age of 25 years old, he had become the youngest school administrator in the state, serving at Sherrard Junior High School, John Marshall High School, and Moundsville Junior High School. He went on to serve as the assistant director of the WVSSAC in Parkersburg, from which he ultimately retired. Jerry was an active member of St. Jude Church, serving as a lector and parish council member and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Aside from spending time with his family and grandchildren, Jerry served his community on the city council and as city clerk for many years. His favorite pastimes included golf trips with friends, quality time at Moundsville County Club, hunting with multiple generations of friends and family, fishing, making wine, serving up breakfast to his grandchildren, and always taking the scenic route home.
