Gerald ‘Jerry’ Trembush – West Virginia, formerly of Charleroi
Gerald “Jerry” Allen Trembush left this world peacefully on Friday, Oct. 27, 2023. He was in one of his favorite destinations, Canaan Valley, W.Va., surrounded by some of the most special people in his life, including his cherished wife, Becky, after 55 years of marriage. Jerry was born May 17, 1946, in Charleroi, Pa., a son of the late John and Mary (Hussar) Trembush. He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca “Becky” James Trembush; daughters, Kara (Kipp) Ottley of Powell, Ohio, and Keely (Brian) Marlin Rappmundt of Morgantown, W.Va.; and a son, Kevin (April) Trembush of Morgantown. He was known as “Pappy” by his eight grandchildren: Karsyn Wagner, Hank Marlin, Josie Trembush, Kaden Ottley, Zoe Marlin, Kole Ottley, Evyn Trembush and Marlin Trembush. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Ursula Trembush and Carol Gaidos; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Dolores (Jack) Moody; brothers, Tom, John and Tim; a niece, Jessica Naber; nephews, TJ, Douglas and Adam Moody and Michael Trembush; and a son-in-law, Robert “Bob” Marlin. Jerry attended Rostraver High School, graduating in the Class of 1964, participating in varsity basketball and football. The first in his family to attend college, Jerry graduated from Glenville State College (now University) in 1968 with a bachelor’s degree in education (physical ed, health and library science). He and Becky then married on July 20, 1968, and began their teaching careers in Marshall County, W.Va. By the age of 25 years old, he had become the youngest school administrator in the state, serving at Sherrard Junior High School, John Marshall High School, and Moundsville Junior High School. He went on to serve as the assistant director of the WVSSAC in Parkersburg, from which he ultimately retired. Jerry was an active member of St. Jude Church, serving as a lector and parish council member and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Aside from spending time with his family and grandchildren, Jerry served his community on the city council and as city clerk for many years. His favorite pastimes included golf trips with friends, quality time at Moundsville County Club, hunting with multiple generations of friends and family, fishing, making wine, serving up breakfast to his grandchildren, and always taking the scenic route home. Family and friends will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at GRISELL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville, with Rosary devotions being recited at 7:45 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until funeral liturgy with Mass celebration at 11 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 710 Jefferson Ave., Glen Dale, with Father Doney and Father John Ledford as co-celebrants.
