Virginia ‘Ruth’ Richardson – Monongahela

Virginia “Ruth” Richardson, 97, of Monongahela, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, in her home. She was born Oct. 7, 1926, in Granville, daughter of John Mitchell and Phyllis Deitz Brewer. Ruth was a member of the First Christian Church in Monongahela. She enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling and playing bingo. She was also a big fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates. She is survived by her son, Oliver U. (Flossie) Richardson of Uniontown; daughter, Virginia “Ginny” Wozniak of Monongahela; four grandchildren, Eric Wozniak, Jeffrey (Shaina) Richardson, Tracy (Brian) Anderson and Jill (Luke) Buffone; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gerald Mitchell of Elco. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver U. Richardson, who died Dec. 8, 2014; son-in-law, Nicholas Wozniak; siblings, George Brewer, Carolyn Hope Wargo, John Brewer and Frances Wahl. The family would like to thank OSPTA Hospice, especially Julie, for their care and compassion. Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where a funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Janet Scott-Mace officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 630 Chess St., Monongahela, PA 15063. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.fryefuneralhome.com.
