Janet Vargo, 94, of Charleroi, passed away on Monday, Oct. 23, 2023, at Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. She was born in Madison on July 9, 1929, daughter of the late George William and Isabella Maughan Nuttall. Janet had worked for the former Murphy’s 5&10 store in West Newton and the former Fuse Factory in West Newton. For many years, she was an Avon representative in the Mon Valley. She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Boden of Sutersville and Isabella (Renea) Vargo of Charleroi; four sons, Anthony (JoAnn) Casoni of Sutersville, George Paul (Julie) Casoni of West Newton, Sam Vargo of Charleroi, and John Vargo of Charleroi; a brother, George R. (Patricia) Nuttall of McKeesport; two daughters-in-law, Nancy Casoni of Sutersville and Chrissy Casoni of Monessen; 22 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Vargo, in 1969; three sons, A. George Casoni, Primo Casoni and Joseph Frank Vargo; a brother, Charles (Twila) Nuttall; two sisters, Margaret Petros and Betty Getchey; and a daughter-in-law, Lori Vargo. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023, at MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 825 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 2023.
