Helen D. Golashewski, 93, of Rostraver Township, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023. Born in North Charle- roi on May 19, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John and Louise Cullen Kortina. Her grandfather, Valentine Cullen Sr., whom she loved dearly, called her “His Lil’ Apple Dupple” (dumplin). Helen worked many years as a secretary, leaving the Teamsters No. 872 Union when her husband formed Mon Valley Express. Together they worked the trucking business until they retired. Helen loved cooking and baking for her family through the years. She was famous for her homemade bread; if you visited with Helen and her family, you always left with a fresh loaf of bread! She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jon “Gene”; her sons, Stanly and Jon; and daughter, Andrea (Jim) Francis Sr. She was the grandmother of Victoria (Marc) Mirenna and James Francis Jr. She was “Bubbie” to her great-grandchildren, Joel, Justin, Jacey and Jerzy Mirenna; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Louise (Dolly) Prezgar. Private family visitation and funeral services, with the Very Rev. Stephan Gresh officiating, were held at JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township, 724-929-7934, www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com. Entombment followed in Grandview Cemetery.
