Pa. officials hear Charleroi’s refugee issues

Members of the Pennsylvania Department of Education got a first-hand look Thursday at what teachers, administrators and staff are up against in the Charleroi Area School District when it comes to providing top-of-the-line education for refugee students who are now Cougars. Superintendent Dr. Ed Zelich said the meeting allowed teachers, administrators, staff and board members to sit at the table with PDE officials and other stakeholders to discuss challenges within the district as educators navigate how to best educate refugee students.
