There’s a new man in charge of the Frazier girls basketball program, and it’s a name familiar to most of the Mon Valley.
Monessen native Jonathan Bass, 43, was hired last month by the Frazier School Board. He is a former head coach at Jeannette and most recently coached the ninth-grade boys team at Serra Catholic.
Bass has been coaching for nearly two decades, starting in the “Knee Hi Basketball” program in Jeannette. He was an assistant with the Jayhawks varsity girls team for two seasons and became head coach for three.
He moved on to Albert Gallatin as a high school boys assistant before coaching the Serra Catholic freshman team.
“I saw the opportunity at Frazier and it looked challenging, yet promising,” Bass said. “I enjoy building and I know we have some talented young players here. I look forward to teaching them the game and helping them continue to improve.”
