James ‘Jamie’ Richard Yates Jr. – Savannah, Ga.

James “Jamie” Richard Yates Jr., 68, of Savannah, Ga., passed away Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. A native of Roscoe, Pa., he was the son of the late James Richard Yates Sr. and Ethel Mae Stockton Yates. Jamie was the owner and operator of JR Yates Painting Company in Savannah. Jamie was a beloved husband, caring father, cherished brother, loving grandfather, supportive uncle and trusted friend. He is survived by his adored wife of 41 years, Helen Wildes Yates. Children include Brandy Yates Brauer (Paul) of Pittsburgh; James Lamar Yates (Robert Bullard) of Atlanta, Ga.; and Miriam Maria Hayes (Andrew) of Savannah, Ga. Siblings include Phyllis Kent (Sam) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Bill Yates (Mindy) of Savannah, Ga.; Kristy Keefer (Paul) of Allenport. Grandchildren include Olivia, Max, Adeline, Isabelle and Verity. He was also an uncle to many nieces and nephews.
