Edna Elizabeth “Betty” Patterson Scaccia, 99, of Belle Vernon, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023, at William Penn Care Center in Jeannette. Born Feb. 7, 1924, in Pricedale, she was the daughter of the late Offie and Agnes Easton Patterson. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mrs. Scaccia was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. Betty was a homemaker and worked at Corning Glass in Charleroi during the 1940s. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crafting and being with her family and friends. She is survived by son, Russell Scaccia of Belle Vernon; daughter, Linda J. Smith of Harrison City; five grandchildren, Cheryl (Jeff) Anthony, Christi (Louis) Zhicay, Aaron (Jenna) Smith, Natalie Smith and Timothy (Yeji) Smith; and seven great-grandchildren, Jordan Amen, Morgan Anthony, Samuel Ali, Harper Smith, Graham Smith, Hailey Smith and Jack Smith; and two great-great-grandchildren, Sadie and Julia Amen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel R. Scaccia; daughter, Sandra Kay Scaccia; and six brothers, James, Floyd, Thomas, Lloyd, Warren and Glenn Patterson. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Prayers of transfer will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston as celebrant. Entombment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The family would wish to extend a special thank you to the staff at William Penn Care Center and Bridges Hospice for their loving care and support.
