Darlene R. Hackinson – Monessen

Darlene R. Hackinson, 66, of Monessen, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023, at home with her loving family by her side. She was born on Jan. 24, 1957, in North Charleroi, the daughter of the late John Sr. and Mary Cocca Turkovich. She was a member of the former St. Cajetan’s Church and current Epiphany of Our Lord Church. She was a 1975 graduate of Monessen High School. She studied at Western CTC and became a nurse and worked at Westmoreland Manor. She also worked as a steelworker for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. Darlene was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, Penguins, Ohio State Buckeyes and Monessen Greyhounds. She loved her family very much and enjoyed going on road trips with her daughter. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Dennis Hackinson; her daughter, Mary Anne (Kyn Hardin) Hackinson; three brothers, Anthony (Peggy) Turkovich of Hunker, Michael (Brenda) Turkovich of Madison, and Donald (Michelle) Turkovich of Dunlevy; three sisters, Sherri (Bernie) Fertall of Monessen, Susan Turkovich of Monessen, and Mary Marsden of Monessen; sister-in-law, Patty Clousi of Fallowfield Township; seven fur grandkids, TK, Geno, Duper, Peanut, Oliver, Oshie and Snickers; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Frances Turkovich; brother, John A. “Butchie” Turkovich; and aunt, Rita Cocca. Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023, at DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen. Services will follow with a blessing service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rodolfo Mejia officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to your local animal shelter.
