Louis Alan Summers, 73, of Belle Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023, in his home. A son of the late Louis and Margaret Bradish Summers, he was born in Charleroi on Sept. 23, 1949. A loving and dedicated husband, father, and uncle, Louis was a quiet, family man. He was a federal government employee for at least 50 years, retiring from the Department of Defense. Louis was a Boy Scout himself and served as a Boy Scout leader for several years. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sheran Clay Summers; a son, Mark Alan Summers of Rostraver; a brother-in-law, Bruce Ahern and his children, Lauren (Dave) Leist, Robert Ahern and Frank (Caroline) Ahern. Also surviving are his wife’s family; brothers and sisters, Dana (Annette) Clay of Belle Vernon, Derek (Sharon) Clay of Suffolk, Va., Brian (Terry) Clay of Sanford, N.C., and Ruth (Scott) Prentice of Virginia Beach, Va.; nephews and nieces, Curtis (Carrie) Clay and Nathaniel Clay, Amanda (Jason) Broyles, Chris (Mallory) Clay, Ben (Alaina) Clay, Emily Clay, Deron Clay, Christianna (Layheng) Khean, Alex Clay, Amy (Evann) Cameron, Katie (Mel “Tripp”) White, Troy (Stephanie) Prentice, Courtney Prentice and Bradley (Molly) Prentice; and 16 great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Jean Summers Ahern; and his brother, Donald Summers. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 4 p.m. Friday with Dana Clay officiating. Interment will be private in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
