Brenda Smith – Monongahela

Brenda Smith, 73, of Monongahela, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023, at Country Care Manor in Fayette City. She was born Nov. 22, 1949, in Connellsville, daughter of the late Leroy Shirey and the late Anna Snyder Shirey. Brenda was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was very strong-willed and determined, despite battling multiple sclerosis for almost 50 years. She had the courage to believe that darkness couldn’t hold her as long as she made her own light. She was loved and admired by so many. Brenda was a typing teacher who taught at Ringgold High School for 25 years. Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband, James Smith; daughter, Sonya (Brian Ralicki) Pollack; grandchildren, Gavin Pollack and Leah Pollack; sister, Barbara (Harold Scott) Lloyd; and a nephew, Gareth (Colleen) Lloyd. Arrangements have been entrusted to ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Donora, PA 15033, 724-379-6900, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023. Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Jude Urso officiating. Private interment will be at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora.
