The Elizabeth Forward School Board highlighted the contents of next week’s regular meeting during a brief committee of the whole session Wednesday night.
One of the main motions on the agenda will grant Geo-Mechanics Inc. of Elizabeth permission to conduct geotechnical engineering services at the high school. Three bids were received for the work, with Geo-Mechanics being favored by Dave Macioce, who is overseeing the high school auditorium project.
The geotechnical work is needed after the Feb. 12 fire that destroyed the high school auditorium and left the building temporarily unusable.
Superintendent Keith Konyk said that there was another bid that was $200 less than Geo-Mechanics’ offer, but Macioce made the local company his recommendation and the company will be voted on during Wednesday’s regular meeting.
“It will impact the cost of the project down the line,” Macioce said. “For the nominal difference, I would recommend sticking with Geo-Mechanics.”
