Rose Marie ‘Sue’ Black – Brownsville, formerly of Washington Township

Rose Marie “Sue” Ehlers Black, 80, of Brownsville, formerly of Washington Township, passed away Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, at UPMC Shady-side Hospital, Pittsburgh, after losing the battle with cancer. Born Dec. 13, 1942, in West Brownsville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ernest P. and Arbelia May Smith Ehlers. A resident of Brownsville most of her life, she also resided in Belle Vernon, Washington Township, for 35 years before moving back to Brownsville. Sue worked at G.C. Murphy in Brownsville, Geico Insurance Company, Ehlers (NAPA) Auto Parts, Cole Chiropractor and the former Community Ambulance Service (CAS). She loved watching and feeding the ducks on the river at her house, and enjoyed baking and cooking. She is survived by her husband, Richard C. “Dick” Black, to whom she was married for 62 years; son and daughter-in-law, Richard C. and Tina Black of Brownsville; two sisters, Barbara Kenneweg and Caryll Linck; grandson, Richard C. Black and fiancé, Katie Finnegan; and nieces, Christine Lenk, Cathy Brown and Cindy Ehlers, with a special thank you to Christine for all the love and compassion that she provided during such a difficult time. She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Richard, David and Ernie. Funeral services are private for the family.
