Ramona A. Sapone, 94, of Monessen, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023, in Jefferson Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born on Sept. 19, 1928, in Arnold City, Pa., daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Dunay Sepesky. She was loved by so many, including her special bingo friends, Josh, Mandy, Hunter and Kelly; her grand-dog, Bentley, and her special great grand dog, Calie, whom she adored so much. She loved watching the Pittsburgh Pirates play and always rooted for Andrew McCutchen. She loved gambling at the casino, playing cards and of course bingo. She was a feisty, strong-willed, caring and giving person. She was a member of the former St. Leonard’s Catholic Church and an active member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church, where she used to help with funeral lunches, festivals and other events. She was also a former member of the Epiphany Ladies and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Special thanks to Rostraver EMS for the times we called them when she needed to go to the hospital and for all the love and care they showed, not only at those times, but while we used them for wheelchair transportation to get her to and from dialysis. Thank you to her wonderful care team of home health through AHN and her loving and caring team of caregivers, Patti, Courtney, Kelly and Stacy. She loved you all as if you were her own. Thank you to all the wonderful nurses and staff on five north at Jefferson Hospital for taking care of her until the end. She is survived by her son, William S. (Susan) Sapone of Erie; daughter, Barbara A. Sapone Charley of Monessen; her granddaughter and best friend, Angela Sapone and her special person Dan of Monessen; grandson, Bryant (Megan) Sapone of Erie; great-grandchildren, Chase and Annie Sapone; two sisters, Nida Sungala of Monessen and Valeria Crevier of Gurnie, Ill.; brother-in-law, Vince Salotti of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Carol Sepesky of Monessen; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Sapone; three brothers, Andrew “Ozzie,” James and Vincent Sepesky; and two sisters, Johanna Core and Karen Salotti. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, at DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen. Additional visitation will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at Gospel Alliance Church, 1011 Fells Church Road, Rostraver Township, PA 15012. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Rostraver West Newton Emergency Services, 100 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Rostraver Township, PA 15012, or The American Kidney Fund, www.kidneyfund.org/ways-give.
