Genevieve Trozzo Ward, 94, of Rostraver Township, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023, in her home. A daughter of the late Sam and Fanny Greco Trozzo, she was born in Belle Vernon on May 24, 1929. A resident of Belle Vernon all her life, Genevieve was a member of St. Sebastian Church, a graduate of Vernon High, Class of 1947, a 1949 graduate of Robert Morris College and then worked at Gemmill Hospital in Monessen for four years. In 1952, she married Thomas Daniel Ward, spent two years in Texarkana, Texas, then returned to Belle Vernon. Genevieve was GRAND REGENT of the Belle Vernon Catholic Daughters of the Americas from 1972 to 1974. She worked at Washington Hospital, medical records, for 15 years, retiring in 1990, and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Store in Monessen for over 20 years. Survivors include a son, Dr. Thomas (Kim) Ward  of Greensburg; two daughters, Linda (Rudy) Tarin of Redding, Calif., and Nancy Jo (Stephen) Cotts of Penn Hills; five grandchildren, Thomas Patrick (Sara) Ward and Michael (Suzanne) Ward, both of Greensburg, Matthew (Brittany) Ward of McMurray, David (Cami) Cotts of Rochester, N.Y., and Andrew Cotts of North Carolina; seven great-grandchildren, Josie Jane, Thomas Daniel, Roman, George, Kennedy and Noah Ward, and Owen Cotts; one brother, Samuel (Marilyn) Trozzo of Seattle, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Daniel Ward on Feb. 27,1984; and a brother, Danny Trozzo, in 2022. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Sebastian’s Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
