Mary Esther McDavis, from Clairton, peacefully went on to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023, at home with her loving family surrounded around her. Born on Sept. 11, 1934, to the late Edward James Jamerson and Zenobia Colbert Jamerson in Alcoa, Tenn. Mary came to the Pittsburgh Hill District area at a very young age and went to school and worked various jobs throughout her life. She worked as a circulation clerk at the library on the South Campus of Community College of Allegheny County. She received various awards, acknowledgment of outstanding service by the South Campus of Community College of Allegheny County and she also received the St. Moritz Security Services Inc. Appreciation Award. She was very dedicated and devoted at her job while in the work field. Mae, as she was called, was a former member of the Gethsemane Church of God In Christ in Clairton and also Trinity Church of God In Christ in McKeesport. Mae was known as a prayer warrior and always kept prayer as the foundation of her life. She loved to cook and was a wonderful baker. Her favorite thing to do as well was watch her TV shows, which featured her favorite judges. Mary was a pillar in her community and her family and was always there to help anyone. She leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Daryl (Carol) McDavis of West Mifflin, Vance (Corretta) McDavis of Duquesne and Shawn (Wonda) McDavis of Penn Hills; three daughters, Derone Burrow of Clairton, JoAnn (Ronald) Bullard of Monongahela and her devoted caregiver, Deborah (Rico) Norfleet of Penn Hills; one brother, Gaylord (Victoria) Jamerson of Maryville, Calif.; two sisters, Patricia (Reginald) Frye of Bridgeville and Phyllis Jamerson of Los Angeles; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to Mary’s parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward McDavis; mother, Zenobia Pamplin; three sons, Jerome McDavis, Paul McDavis and James McDavis; daughter, Cedra Witkowski; two brothers, Byron Jamerson and James Jamerson; and grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, at Trinity Church of God In Christ, 2216 Jenny Lind St., McKeesport, PA 15132. Service to begin at noon. Interment at Fells Church Cemetery, Fellsburg, Pa. Eulogy by Elder Christian Norfleet, Greater Saint Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church, New Orleans, La. Arrangements entrusted to the WILLIAM R. TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 645 McMahon Ave., Monessen, PA 15062, 724-684-4877, Trudy L. Taylor, director in charge.
