Ron Garcia passed away Aug. 4, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on Aug. 18, 1948, in McKeesport, to Barbara Lovas Garcia and Adolph Garcia. Ron graduated from Elizabeth Forward High School in Elizabeth in 1966 and then graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor of Science in business logistics. After graduation, he enlisted with the Pennsylvania State Police in January of 1972. He attained the rank of major before retiring in January of 1998. While with the state police, he attended the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va., with the 143rd Class in 1985. Ron was a devout Christian and served as a deacon at The Way Independent Christian Church in Ocala. He enjoyed assisting with a Tuesday night Bible study. Ron is survived by his wife, Robin (Carnahan); a son, Brad (Donna), in Pennsylvania and their children, Ava and Zach; and a daughter, Angie (Phil), in Georgia, with their son, Cayden. Ron is also survived by his sister, Joyce Alvarez and her husband Tony in Pennsylvania and their children, Anthony and Stephanie. There will be no viewing, but there will be a celebration of life at the Grand Hall at SummerGlen in Ocala, Fla., on Friday, Aug. 18, 2023. Donations can be made to any animal rescue of your choice.
