Joseph S. ‘Chip’ DeFelicis – Monessen

Joseph S. “Chip” DeFelicis, 94, of Monessen, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 7, 2023, at home, with his loving family by his side. He was born on Oct. 13, 1928, in Donora, son of the late Gus and Jenny Sanfilippo DeFelicis. Chip graduated from Donora High School and went on to art school, then served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War as a member of the military police. He worked at the Donora mill until it closed, then worked for and eventually owned Cherocci Gas Station. After it closed, he worked as a Pennsylvania Lottery agent before retiring. He was a member of Epiphany of our Lord Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1190, American Legion Post 28, Knights of Columbus No. 954 and Monessen Lions Club. He was a very good basketball player in high school, and he always enjoyed having lunch with all of his buddies. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Dolores (Cherocci) DeFelicis; daughter, Carla (Vincent) Cislak of Monessen; two granddaughters, Vanessa Cislak of Monessen and Renette (Patrick) Cullen of Peters Township; and two great-grandchildren, Addison and Sean Cullen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gus DeFelicis. Chip enjoyed life with his buddy, Moe Vizza, and his family. Family and friends are asked to attend a funeral Mass that will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023, at Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 44 Pennsylvania Blvd., Monessen, with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating. DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen has been entrusted with arrangements.
