Genevieve S. Yuna, 100, of North Versailles, died July 24, 2023, at Walden’s View of North Huntingdon. Born June 27, 1923, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Wasil and Anna Misczycha Smolinsky and wife of the late Andrew Yuna. Genevieve worked in the home office for the G.C. Murphy Co. for over 40 years. She was a member of the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church and was also a “pirohi pincher.” Genevieve loved all Pittsburgh sports, was a season ticket holder for the Steelers and attended three Super Bowls. She had a passion for bingo and casinos were a close second. Genevieve always felt very blessed and was a lucky lady. She is survived by a sister, Pearl “Billie” Rolnik, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by siblings, Leona Shevke, Mary Belback, Olive Benyak, Stanley Smolnicky, Michael Smolinsky and Jean Konias. Family and friends will be received at JAYCOX-JAWORSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2023. The Requiem Divine Liturgy will be held at noon Friday, July 28, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, North Versailles.
