Dorothy Schnippert Hamilton – Greensburg

Dorothy Schnippert Hamilton, 87, of Greensburg, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Redstone Highlands, Greensburg. She was born Feb. 28, 1936, in Greentree. Dorothy grew up in southwestern Pennsylvania and raised her family on Banning Hill. She was an English teacher at Belle Vernon High School from 1971 to 1991. Her passions were her family, reading, skiing, bicycling, traveling and she loved her book club. She was an avid skier for many years, and she really missed her Irish setter, Dugan. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Althea Crichley Schnippert Stewart, William Schnippert and step-father Wilson Stewart. She was also predeceased by her husband, David Hamilton (2019); brother, William Schnippert; sister-in-law, Doris Schnippert; brother-in-law, Donald Svitko; brother-in-law, Angus Hamilton; and son-in-law, Charles Ansell. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Hamilton Ansell; son, David William Scott Hamilton and his wife, Kathryn Douglass Hamilton; grandsons, Wil and wife Elizabeth, Tom and wife Elyse, and Jon; two great-granddaughters, Maeve and Annalise; sisters, Carol Crichley, Pat Stewart and her husband Anthony Esposito; along with numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be planned for Dorothy in the near future. Arrangements are being handled by KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME in GREENSBURG.
