Bernard S. Borkowski, of West Mifflin, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on July 20, 2023, at the age of 89. He was the husband of Marlene (Aitken) Borkowski; father of Cynthia (Harry) Thompson, Steven (Kathy) Borkowski and Diane (Robert) Yingling; grandfather of Bernard and John Thompson, Stacie (Danny) Davis, Jennifer (Ken) Celian, Robert (Sara), Dylan and David Yingling, and the late Jeff Celian; great-grandfather of Deacon, Ryker and Ezra Yingling, Daniel and Sierra Davis and Jasmine (Ryan) Dawson; great-great-grandfather of Aaralyn Dawson; son of the late Stanley and Stella Kowalski Borkowski; and brother of Dolores (Bob) Lealand, Barbara (Mike) Pomiabo and Richard (Bonnie) Borkowski. He is uncle to many nieces and nephews and is survived by many friends. Bernard was a member of the Pine Run Boat Club, Homestead Carnegie Library Gym, Mesta Retirees Luncheon Group and St. Paul’s Seminary annual retreat. He was an avid builder and collector of model airplanes, ships and radio-controlled models and enjoyed canoeing, woodworking and gardening. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2023, at SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME INC., 3501 Main St., Munhall, PA 15120. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park, Pittsburgh.
