Wendy S. Martin Hart Boyd – Monessen

Wendy S. Martin Hart Boyd, 72, of Monessen, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 7, 2023. Born in Monongahela on May 14, 1951, she was the daughter of the late George A. III and Margaret I. (Miller) Martin. Wendy was a beloved teacher, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She retired from the Belle Vernon Area School District after more than 30 years of teaching. She played piano and sang in the choir at church and was active in both the California United Methodist Church and the Belle Vernon Presbyterian Church. She volunteered at the Hallsworth House, wrote letters to prisoners at the Westmoreland County Prison and actively donated to various charities. Wendy loved feeling the sunshine! She is survived by her son, Seth (Kelly) Hart of Maryville, Tenn.; daughter, Jera (Jon Baker) Hart of Monessen; grandchildren, Ryen, Rex, Isaiah and Jayelyn; brothers, James (Diane) Martin of Rostraver and Gary (Karen) Martin of Granbury, Texas; sister, Debbie (Ronald) Medina of Rostraver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George A Martin IV and sister, Jennie L. Maisano. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township, 724-929-7934, www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Chuck Jack officiating. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to your local church in memory of Wendy. A Japanese Proverb states, “Better than a thousand days of diligent study is one day with a great teacher.”
