Anthony ‘Tony’ Gaisbacher Jr. – Charleroi

By Jeremy Sellew

Anthony “Tony” Gaisbacher Jr., 95, of Charleroi, passed away July 8, 2023, at home with his loving wife Judy at his side. Tony was born on Aug. 8, 1927 in Kremnica, Czechoslovakia. He was the son of the late Anthony Gaisbacher Sr. and Ethel (Rebka) Gaisbacher. Tony was a U.S Army Veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel with 31 years of employment as a crane man. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Charleroi. Tony enjoyed working, never idle; he rebuilt his “Mack” truck and worked on heavy equipment. He was well respected as owner-operator of Gaisbacher’s Excavating. Tony was always honest, fair and pleasing his customers was his way. Tony lit up the room with his zest for life. He played the button box by ear and enjoyed dancing with his wife and friends at the Slovenian Ballroom in Hermine. Tony is survived by his wife of 31 years Judy (Carly) Gaisbacher; his children Anthony Gaisbacher III of Markleysburg, Russell (Susan) Gaisbacher of Charleroi and Nancy Gaisbacher of Texas; two grandsons, Matt (Karen) Gaisbacher and Mike Gaisbacher; his sisters, Susan Sustrik and Ethel Redd; brother-in-law, Rich Carly; and several nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his two best friends, Edward Yuhas and Paul Tomcanin. Tony will be greatly missed by all who have had the honor and pleasure of knowing him. In addition to Tony’s parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Ann Lorenzi, who passed away in 2006. A special thanks to all the nurses and staff at AHN Hospice Care for all their compassion and care. Friends and family will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday July 12, 2023, at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022.
