James Michael ‘Micky’ Martin Sr. – Winter Haven, Fla., formerly of McKeesport

James Michael “Micky” Martin Sr., 88, of Winter Haven, Fla., formerly of McKeesport, died on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. He was born in McKeesport, on Sept. 4, 1934, son of the late Thomas Victor and Catherine Skiffington Martin, and the husband of the late Marian Laskey Martin. Micky was a member of the former St. Pius Church in McKeesport, where he served as an altar boy. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed boating and having a glass of wine. He served as a sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War. Micky is survived by his children, James Michael Martin Jr.; David Martin; Kelly Ruiz; and grandchildren, Caitlin and Isabella. In addition to his parents and wife, Micky was preceded in death by his siblings, Thomas Martin, Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” Tubbs and Patricia “Patsy” Christianson. Micky will be dearly missed by his family, friends and neighbors in Winter Haven, Fla., who referred to him as “CAPT. Jim.” Family and friends will gather from 10 a.m. until noon Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at STRIFFLERS OF WHITE OAK CREMATION AND MORTUARY SERVICES INC., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131, Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177. Services will take place at 1 p.m. in the chapel at Westmoreland County Memorial Park, 150 East Side Drive, Greensburg, PA 15601, with a burial to follow.
