Fight to stop power plant continues

About 100 concerned local residents piled into the West Newton Gymnasium Tuesday night to learn more about a proposed natural-gas powered power plant in Elizabeth Township. The 639-megawatt power plant being proposed as the Allegheny Energy Center by Invenergy of Chicago would be constructed in Smithdale, raising concerns from both Allegheny County and Westmoreland County inhabitants.
