Edwinna ‘Windy’ Sloan Jones – Coal Center

Edwinna “Windy” Sloan Jones, 89, of Coal Center, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 24, 2023, in Wexford, Pa.  Windy was born on Aug. 13, 1933, in Long Branch, a daughter of Edward and Isabelle Gray Sloan. Windy was a person of faith and a devoted member of Howe United Methodist Church, where she served as the organist and treasurer for many years. She was an avid bowler and card player, loved Western movies and was known for her delicious homemade pies. She loved her annual beach trip to Ocean City, Md., where she enjoyed spending time with her extended family, cooking dinners and nightly card games with a milkshake in hand. Windy was passionate about spending time with her children and grandchildren and treasured their Disney trips together. She is survived by her two children and their spouses, Wendy (Andrew) Greess of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Bruce (Mary Beth) Jones of Gibsonia, Pa.; and four grandchildren, Lindsay and Zach Jones and Samuel and Rachel Greess. Windy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Walter Lee Jones, whom she married in the living room of the house they built together; and her sister, Donna Sloan McHolme. A private burial was held at Howe Cemetery. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Howe United Methodist Church in Long Branch. Arrangements have been entrusted to MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe. Memorial donations may be made to Howe United Methodist Church in Long Branch.
