Larry Kearns of Winter Garden, Fla., received his angel wings on June 1, 2023, at his home after fighting a long illness. Larry was born July 13, 1949, in Monongahela, the son of the late Roy Calvin Kearns and Olive Walker Kearns. After graduating from high school, Larry moved to Virginia to pursue a government career. He worked as an IT specialist for the Department of the Army in Fort Belvoir, Va. After 42 years of dedicated service, he retired on Dec. 31, 2010, and moved to Florida. Larry was a highly intelligent individual and throughout his lifetime, he was able to accomplish anything, no matter how challenging. He was always willing to help anyone and made people feel special, including complete strangers. He will be greatly missed by everyone whose life he touched. Larry is survived by his soulmate of 47 years, Julian Atencio. Larry leaves behind his nieces whom he was extremely proud of, Sherri (Robert) Rafalko and Patricia (Larry) Mason, all of Monongahela; four great-nieces; three great-grandnieces; and one great-grandnephew. Also surviving are his daughter, Visa Young Oakley (Nancy Johnson); two grandchildren, Reggie Biegler and Gabrielle Biegler; and one great-granddaughter, Lilly. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Roy Calvin Jr., Gary Lee and Charles; and one nephew, Roy “Sonny” Calvin III.
