Mary Ann Lorenz – Van Voorhis
Mary Ann Lorenz, 80, of Van Voorhis, died Tuesday, June 20, 2023, in the Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. She was born March 25, 1943, in Bentleyville, daughter of Anthony Victor and Jennie Litwin Lepovich. Mary Ann was a 1961 graduate of Monongahela High School and the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy. She was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Monongahela. She was employed as a cook at the Century Inn in Scenery Hill and a waitress and cashier in the cafeteria at Monongahela Valley Hospital where she retired. She enjoyed baking, especially sugar cookies with her “sunshines,” cooking, and spending time with her family. Mary Ann loved traveling to South Carolina with her husband to visit their son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband and “partmer” in life, Leo Lorenz, with whom she celebrated 59 years of marriage on May 9, 2023; two daughters, Theresa (Mark) Dorman and Kimberly (Stephen) Balko, both of Van Voorhis; son, Leo (Kathryn) Lorenz of Summerville, S.C.; three grandchildren, her special sunshines, Matthew, Kaycie and Makayla Lorenz; special aunt, Kay Lepovich Rutan of North Tonawanda, N.Y.; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Helen Elizabeth “Betty” McIntosh Lepovich; and her sister, Julie Lepovich. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2023, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2023, in St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Monongahela. Committal services and interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery.
