Marlene K. Johnston, or “Mangal” as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren liked to call her, 85, of Monessen, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at home, with her loving family by her side. She was born on July 8, 1937, in Monessen, daughter of the late John and Louise Dominick Maisano. She was a member of Epiphany of our Lord Church and a 1956 graduate of Monessen High School. Surviving are her husband of 64 years, James R. Johnston; two daughters, Lori Johnston of Monessen and Becky (Charles) Cardinale of Speers; two granddaughters, Casey (Jonathan) Rock and Delany Dalfonso; grandson, Tommy Dalfonso; great- grandchildren, Hayden and Mia Rock; two sisters-in-law, Ann Maisano and Grace Sedlak; her dog Sassy; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene, Michael and Anthony Maisano; and five sisters, Margaret Perry, Lena Maisano, Virginia Maisano, Mary Scaccia and Mildred Bethem. Friends will be received from 3  to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen. Services will be held Wednesday June 21, 2023, beginning with a blessing service at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at Epiphany of our Lord Church with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Condolences accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
