Frances Jo Ann Revetta – Monongahela

By obits

Frances Jo Ann Revetta, 88, of Monongahela, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 14, 2023. Jo Ann was born in Gainesville, Texas, on April 14, 1935, to George and Rowena Coursey Gilpin. Her family relocated to Wichita Falls, and it was there that Jo Ann met and married Eugene “Dean” Revetta in the fall of 1953. Dean and Jo Ann returned to Monongahela soon after to begin a journey that would last 68 years. Although a stranger to the river town, Jo Ann was embraced by Dean’s friends and family and quickly became a local. Jo Ann spent much of her time watching over multiple generations of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She approached their care as she approached life, with selflessness, compassion, a quick wit and an extraordinary amount of love. She was “Gram” to a small army; her home was open to all, and she embraced that role with all her heart. Jo Ann was preceded in death by the love of her life, Dean; her sisters, Dorothy Anderson, Sammie Oleta Bray and Wanda Gilpin; and her brothers, Duard Gilpin, George Allen Gilpin and Donald Gilpin. Jo Ann is survived by two daughters, Laurie Parnell of Monongahela and Linda Roman of Venetia; three grandsons, Andrew (Jocelyn) Gunia of Bethel Park, Benjamin Roman of Cresson and Jason (Dee) Gunia of Monongahela; and four great-grandchildren Allen, Anna, Quinten and Gordon. At Jo Ann’s request, there will be no funeral services and interment in Monongahela Cemetery will be private. MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com, is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, the Dementia Society of America or to a charity of one’s choice.
