George A. ‘Chip’ Essey – Charleroi

George A. “Chip” Essey, 67, of Craven Hill, Charleroi, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023. Chip was a 1974 graduate of Monessen High School, then attended West Virginia University and graduated from California University of Pennsylvania with a degree in accounting. He was a retired controller for Albert Gallatin Home Health and Hospice, where he was most proud of his contributions toward starting their hospice program. Chip was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast. He was the founder and charter member of WAKYYS golf league. He was a passionate coach for youth basketball; mentoring, guiding and believing in all his team members while teaching them the meaning of teamwork. He previously attended St. Michael’s Syrian Orthodox Church in Monessen. Chip was the son of George and the late Doreen Stofka Essey. In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Marian Rehar Essey; sons, Michael Wyvratt of Pittsburgh, Andrew Wyvratt of Castle Shannon and Christopher Essey of Craven Hill; his faithful and loving goldendoodle, Mia; sisters, Lori Essey and Susan Essey; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Rhome Funeral Home, 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen. Visitation will conclude with a service at the funeral home at 5:30 p.m. with Father Fred Pfeil officiating. In lieu of flowers, Chip and family request that donations in his memory be made to either UPMC Hillman Center, The Residence at Hilltop, or Amedisys Hospice in appreciation for the excellent care he received from these providers.
