After more than two years of fundraising, the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall, a 3/5 scale of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C., will arrive at the Roscoe Sportsmen’s Association Thursday and will be on display through Monday morning.
James Salzman, a Roscoe Sportsmen’s Association member and the lead organizer, said it’s been in the works for a long time.
“There’s been a small group from the sportsmen’s club that really worked hard for two years to bring this in,” Salzman said. “And it’s the first time in, I believe, in 18 years that it’s been in Washington County.”
The event will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday with an escort of the memorial wall to the sportsmen’s association from the Pilot Truck Stop in Bentleyville. The memorial will be open 24 hours a day from Thursday evening until Monday morning. The sportsmen’s association is located at 1069 Sloan Lane in Coal Center.
