The Charleroi business owner who shot a man found squatting in an apartment over his McKean Avenue store front has been cleared in the May 25 shooting.
Washington County District Attorney Jason Walsh said Wednesday that Pet Boutique owner Daniel Johnson was justified in shooting Tony T. Troutman, 20, of California.
Charleroi Regional Police Detective David Kimball wrote in an affidavit of probable cause that police were called to 513 McKean Ave. around 9:18 a.m. for a report of a 911 caller who shot an intruder. On arrival, Johnson surrendered his firearm and told police where to find Troutman, the affidavit states. Police found Troutman with a gunshot wound on the roof of 509 McKean Ave. and he was flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital.
