Abe G. ‘Buzz’ Ruben – Texas, formerly of Donora

A year ago, on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, Abe G. “Buzz” Ruben passed away at the age of 88 in Tyler, Texas. Born on Sept. 15, 1933, in Donora, Pa., to Abe Sr. and Ethel Gwynne Ruben, he graduated from Donora High School. Always preparing for tomorrow, he wrote the following self-obituary:
Abe G. “Buzz” Ruben Grove City College Class of ’69 died. A veteran of the Korean War, he taught history and world culture at Grove City High School before joining Cooper Industries Labor Relations staff in 1965. He transferred from Grove City to Mt. Vernon, Ohio, to Houston, Texas, to Dallas before retiring in 1988. He was a graduate of business administration from General Motors Institute of Technology, now Kettering University, in 1954. He is the third Ruben of six graduates of Grove City College. Prior to his death, he lived with his wife, Lynn in Tyler, Texas. Survivors are his wife, daughter, two sons and three grandchildren. Abe was preceded in death by his father, Abe Sr.; his mother, Ethel; and his brothers, Kenneth, Jack and George. He is survived by his wife, Lynn, his three children, Roberta (Tom) Colkin, Chris (Angela) Ruben and Justin McDonald; his cherished grandchildren, Zoe, Alex and Axel; his sisters, Miriam (now passed) and Martha; his brother, Eli and their families. A memorial for Buzz and a combined burial service for both he and his sister, Miriam Ruben Kashner, will be held at Monongahela Cemetery Chapel at 11 a.m. Aug. 4, 2023. Friends are welcome to join us there.
