Serra Catholic mercy rules Burgettstown, 10-0, to advance to 2A title game

Serra Catholic was limited to just one hit the first time through the order Tuesday afternoon. In the third inning, Isiah Petty helped spark the championship-bound Eagles. Petty led off the frame with a triple down the right-field line and a few timely hits followed, as a four-run third led to No. 1 Serra Catholic claiming a 10-0 mercy-rule victory over No. 4 Burgettstown in the WPIAL Class 2A semifinals at Washington & Jefferson College’s Ross Memorial Park.
