Property owners in the Charleroi Area School District will see a slight tax increase next year.
On Tuesday, school board directors passed a $28.9 million budget for the 2023-24 school year, which includes a 1.22% tax increase. The increase equates to .2449 mills and is about $800,000 higher than last year’s budget, which also saw an increase of .8611 mills.
The .2249 increase in millage means residents will see an annual increase of $22.49 per $100,000 assessed value of their home.
The spending plan was approved in a 7-1 vote, with Directors Ken Wiltz, Adele Hopkins, Joe Caruso, Heather Keranko, Thomas Nutting, Elaine Pappasergi and Barbara Pepper voting yes. Director Charles Yakich said he was abstaining because his wife is the tax collector.
Director Antonia Pellegrini was absent.
