Former school building hit by fire

Multiple departments responded to a fire Saturday at the former Granville Elementary School in California. The school was empty at the time of the blaze, which is currently under investigation. Firefighters from California, Roscoe, West Brownsville and Richeyville were called to the scene on School Street, and North Belle Vernon VFD was sent to Roscoe for standby. Fallowfield Township, South Brownsville and Brownsville No. 1 (Fayette County) were called in to assist. Bentleyville VFD provided Rapid Intervention as crews battled the fire for nearly three hours.
