Louis Stephen Comadena, 80, of Fairfax, Va., passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.  A son of the late Lou and Florence Ambrose Comadena, he was born on June 19, 1942, and resided in North Belle Vernon for his entire youth. He was a 1960 graduate of Bellmar High School and was proud to be a part of their undefeated 1959 football team. Mr. Comadena went on to graduate from the United States Air Force Academy in 1964. He achieved the rank of captain and was based in Thailand during the Vietnam War, where he was in charge of leading the building of Nakhon Phanom Air Force Base. During this time, he was awarded the Bronze Star by the U.S. government. He also went on to earn his MBA from Pepperdine University in 1978, was granted eight patents by the United States Patent and Trademark Office and proudly retired as CEO of Penn-Wheeling Closure, LLC. He is survived by his wife of 49 ½ years, Linda Sue Morrison Comadena; his daughter and son-in-law, Laurie Comadena Edwards and Matt Edwards of Falls Church, Va.; his son, Louis Samuel Comadena; as well as granddaughters, Charlotte Florence Edwards and Savannah Rae Edwards. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Arthur “Skip” Endres of Laurel, Md.; nephews, Brett (Jennie) Endres and Marc (Jennifer) Endres; as well as many grand-nieces and nephews. Mr. Comadena spent 1987 to 2022 in Burr Ridge, Ill., and also considered that home. In addition to spending time with his family, he loved to travel, play golf, drink a cool gin martini and play a mean game of cards. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastor Earl Rosenbalm officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
