Hampton starting pitcher Ryan Apaliski cruised through the Ringgold lineup Wednesday afternoon.
The senior southpaw struck out 17 batters and tossed a one-hitter to guide the No. 9 Talbots past the No. 8 Rams, 9-0, in the first round of the WPIAL Class 4A playoffs at Gateway High School.
Ringgold (8-13) finished with just two baserunners via a second-inning walk to Alex Kolano and a seventh-inning single by Hunter Mamie that broke the no-hit bid with one out in the frame.
Apaliski, a James Madison University commit, threw 64 of his 97 pitches for strikes, as Hampton (9-9) earned a trip to the quarterfinals to face No. 1 Montour, a 3-2 first-round winner against Uniontown, at a site and time to be determined.
