Monongahela appointed a new council member Wednesday.
Councilman Lee Mizwa announced his resignation as parks and property director. To fill his place, council tapped long-time city resident Mark Gadd.
“It was a pleasure working with you Lee,” Mayor Greg Garry said. “We hate to see you go.”
Mizwa steps down after holding his seat for a year and a half. He said he’s enjoyed his time in City Hall, but felt the need to serve in different leadership capacities.
“I’ve given this a lot of thought along with my family,” Mizwa said. “I’ve volunteered for many different organizations in Monongahela and I sought to get a position on city council as parks and property director.
“But I’ve decided to seek a position on the (Municipal Authority of the City of Monongahela). I have over 10 years experience on the authority now. I’m a certified operator — I just went through training for about a year and a half to maintain my operator’s license.”
