Donora resident Bill Russell has again organized a walk for Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network’s annual fundraising efforts, but this year, it will take place at The Bible Chapel’s Rostraver Township location on May 20.
“This will be the first walk ever done from a church we’re gonna be trendsetters, and I think that’s a good thing,” Russell said.
Russell beat bladder cancer years ago and has dedicated much of his life to helping those diagnosed with it. BCAN, a national organization that Russell regularly collaborates with, educates and raises awareness about the common but rarely discussed disease and provides support to individuals struggling with it. Every year, Russell joins several other organizers from around the country in hosting separate Walk to End Bladder Cancer events to raise money for the organization.

The Bible Chapel Church is located at 203 Johnson Ave., Belle Vernon. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by the opening ceremony at 11 a.m. Those interested can register at the church at 10:30 a.m. or online at www.bcan.org/walk.
