James Korber, 75, of Pittsburgh, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023, at his home. Born Jan. 26, 1948, in Mt. Pleasant, he was the son of the late August and Mary Zadylak Korber. Jim lived in Yukon for 26 years and Belle Vernon for 48 years before moving to Franklin Park in Pittsburgh. Jim graduated from Greensburg Central High School in 1965. He then graduated from St. Vincent College with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in 1969. He attended Penn State University for Real Estate Appraisals and the Institute of Certified Bankers, earning a degree as a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager. His first position was with the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board as an auditor in 1970. He later transferred to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as an FDIC bank examiner from 1970-74; Federal Department of Energy as an auditor from 1974-81; Federal Home Loan Bank Board Examination Division of Pittsburgh as an O.T.S. bank examiner from 1981-87; internal auditor at Washington Financial from 1987-91 and then vice president/ regulatory compliance and audit from 1991 until his retirement in 2011. James was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and after moving to Pittsburgh became a member of St. John Neumann Church. He is survived by his wife, Carol Lee Delbarre Korber, to whom he was married on June 15, 1974; daughter and son-in-law, Marissa Anne and Shaun Nocera of Pittsburgh; son, Jeffrey James and Erin Korber of Wexford; two granddaughters, Leila Jade Nocera and Giuliana Lou Nocera; grandson, Cash Michael Korber; sister-in-law, Gloria Jean Kuhn of Garrettsville, Ohio; niece, Amy Maria and Thomas Weidele of Garrettsville, Ohio; and two great-nephews, Ryan Stoller of Garrettsville, Ohio, and Travis Patterson of Ravenna, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Prayers of transfer will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston as celebrant. Interment will take place in West Newton Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their sincerest thanks to Bridges Hospice Care, especially to June, Tamara, Kara and Elizabeth for their loving care of James.
