Dr. Valerie Ann Maszkiewicz Pricener-Slavic, 67, of Ruffs Dale, died Tuesday, May 2, 2023. Born in Pittsburgh on February 6, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Steve J. Maszkiewicz and Dr. Ruth A. Conlogue Maszkiewicz. Valerie was a devoted mother, grandmother, wife, sister and great friend to so many. As a graduate of Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, she devoted her professional career to helping others. In her personal life, she also helped all of us. She greatly enjoyed her family life with her children and grandchildren on her farm with her horses and pets too numerous to name. She enjoyed riding horses, going to the beach, skiing and especially cooking, which again was just her way of taking care of others. Her positive spirit and drive will be hard to match and greatly missed. She is survived by her sons, Jo Jo (Annalisa) Pricener, Taylor Pricener and Thomas G. (Jennifer) Slavic Jr.; daughters, Raechel (Marybeth) Pricener and Nikki Slavic (Marc) Drobny; grandchildren, Taylor Coalter, Nadia Coalter, Ayden Pricener, Liam Pricener and Remi Pricener; brothers, Dr. Stephen J. (Esther) Maszkiewicz, Daniel J. (Karen) Maszkiewicz and Mark E. Maszkiewicz; sister, Dr. Suzanne M. (Dean) Martin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Valerie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas G. Slavic Sr.; and sister, Dr. Amy C. Maszkiewicz Sobieski. Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township, 724-929-7934, www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com. As a member of St. Basil The Great Russian Orthodox, 1449 Ridge Road, Rostraver Township, Valerie’s family and friends are being welcomed to meet for her funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday. Father Joseph Romanchak will be officiating her service. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery. Parastas service will be held in the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
