Charleroi ready to hire new street foreman

Charleroi Borough Council’s personnel committee made an official recommendation to hire a new street foreman, but a position for a full-time code enforcement officer will remain unfilled.
During an agenda meeting Wednesday, Councilman Larry Celaschi, who is one of two sitting members on the committee along with Joe Smith, made a recommendation for council to hire William L. Scythe, pending a criminal background check.
Celaschi informed council they had a recommendation for only one of two positions, and that was for a public works foreman.
The borough has been looking to fill the position for several months, Celaschi said.
